Greetings from the Getty for Senate campaign!
As District 5 residents and families travel this weekend to visit family, friends, and vacation destinations, the Getty for Senate campaign wishes you a great Holiday weekend!
We hope that you keep the Getty for Senate campaign in mind during your travels. The campaign is entering a very busy time period with the Primary Election on September 14 quickly approaching.
We are asking everybody and anybody who has supported Joe in his race thus far to help man the District 5 polling places on Primary Election Day, Tuesday, September 14!
Voting will take place on Tuesday, September 14 from 7:00a.m. to 8p.m.
The Getty for Senate campaign is asking our volunteers and supporters to take a morning and/or evening shift. The two shifts will be just 2 hours long each, from 7a.m. to 9a.m. and from 5p.m. to 8p.m.

I wish that I had a nickel for everytime someone told me that they were not registered to vote because they did not want to be called for jury duty. I would be a millionaire based upon the number of times at voter registration booths and going door-to-door that people have proclaimed this excuse to shun their civic duty to vote. The deadline to register to vote, change party affiliation and update your voter information is 21 days before an election.
· Primary Election Registration Deadline: August 24, 2010
· General Election Registration Deadline: October 12, 2010
To register or update your voter information: submit a voter registration application (see below).
To change your party affiliation: submit a new voter registration application or a written request to your local board of elections.

As of today, less than one month remains until the Republican Primary Election on September 14th.
The Getty for Senate Campaign is working hard to ensure our victory on election night. Our message of fiscal responsibility, tax relief, and job creation soundly resonates with the voters and working families of Senate District 5 in Carroll and Baltimore counties.
In the 2010 election, we have many great opportunities in Maryland to return Bob Ehrlich as Governor, elect Joe Getty to the State Senate and accomplish victories for many conservative candidates across the state. From now until the General Election on November 2nd, our major goal is to motivate our grassroots supporters to VOTE – by absentee ballot, early voting or casting a ballot in their precinct on Election Day.
Our key vehicles for motivating voters this election include our Facebook page (“Getty for Senate”), our email distribution list, our website (www.getty2010.com) and Twitter (@GettyforSenate). BUT WE NEED TO REACH MORE VOTERS LIKE YOU!
You can help! Please share this email with your friends who might like to receive communications about issues, events and election updates for Carroll and Baltimore counties. Suggest that they join the Getty Get-Out-The-Vote Team by signing up through these new media opportunities.
You can recommend us by using the “Forward This Email” tab below. Also, you may “share” the Getty for Senate Facebook page with your friends the next time that you are on Facebook.

In 2003, the slots proposal of Governor Robert L. Ehrlich, Jr., to put video lottery terminals at racetracks throughout the state was based on the profitable models in Delaware and West Virginia. Had it been put into effect nearly eight years ago, there is a high probability that horse racing and slot machine gaming would be well-established and successful today.
Again, in 2003, then-Mayor O'Malley called slots "morally bankrupt." Now he is totally in charge. He appointed the Video Lottery Terminal Commission. They selected Arundel Mills. But now O'Malley backtracks pandering for votes. A recent Baltimore Sun article states: "The governor may think he can pick up votes by supporting the bid to overturn zoning for slots at Arundel Mills Mall, but that stance is fiscal suicide."
In an effort to gain a payout of votes, Martin O'Malley and the Democrats in the legislator have held slots in limbo as they jostle for November 2nd results. Meanwhile, they have failed to deliver the Maryland Taxpayer with an estimated $1 billion in budgetary relief.
